Sheina Turns 1!

Last Sunday I had the pleasure of attending  Sheina's first birthday party. It was a wonderful time for all. There was the "Zoo that comes to you" with lizards and other reptiles. The kids had no fear, it was the adults hiding at the back who were making faces ;)  There was also face painting, a crafts table- and of course an amazing array of food. The cake was absolutley beautiful, as were the decorations. The perfect party for a princess.  This little girl is so loved! She has 35! Godparents (yup, count 'em)  and a ton of cousins to play with. You can see how much her parents adore her, and her sweet personality can fill a room, even at one year old!
 Happy Birthday Sheina!

Lim Family

Once again, I had the opportunity to do a session with the Lim family. This time, it was the entire extended family. We did 2 parts, one more formal shots at the house, and then some more casual ones in a nearby park. Shooting with an entire extend family, especially with small children, is a toughie. So many shots I thought I had nailed, when I blew them up I discovered one child or another was always making faces, lol. It is hard to shoot large posed group shots, and co-ordinate everyone, especially kids. Still, we had loads of fun at the park, climbing trees and playing in the flowers. The weather couldn't have been better, and the park made for a pretty background. This family seems very close, and I think it is fantastic that all the kids will have a great support group of cousins, as their parents did. It is always a pleasure to work with the Lim family, they are extremely welcoming and sweet. Here are some of the shots from our latest session.

Cheryl

We visited Salmon Arm last week, and  I took advantage of the scenery to do a session with my cousin Cheryl. She recently became engaged to a really nice guy named Dave, and they seem really happy with each other. Cheryl and Dave were kind enough to drive us up to my hometown to visit my grandfather, who is 95. It was a pretty emotional journey for me, wonderful, and incredibly sad at the same time. Cheryl wanted a shoot to capture the moment she is in now, a lovely reason to celebrate. This really resonated with me after seeing my Gramps. All we have are these moments, we must enjoy and celebrate each and every one. Cheryl was a little nervous in front of the camera, but as you can see she had little reason. We even managed to convince Dave to hop in for a few!

Caitlin and Jeff

While on Vacation in Vancouver I got to sneak in a session with my beautiful sister and her husband Jeff. It was so wonderful to see them, it had been a year and a half since we last had the chance. It's so expensive to fly across the country, and life has a way of keeping you busy. It did me wonders to see my family! Cait and Jeff weren't too happy with their wedding photos from a few years back, and wanted to capture some good shots of the two of them together. I wish I'd had more time, and I wish we had been able to do our second planned shoot with cowboy boots and guitars... next time :)  They really are a great couple, they compliment each other well. Cait and Jeff wanted a casual shoot to reflect their fun, laid back personalities, so we headed down to Kits beach to snap some pictures. I hope I earned my stay in their guest room, lol.
